Cocoon & The Community

Building Strong Community Connections

At Cocoon, we value our close partnership with Kareela Public School, creating meaningful connections that support a smooth and confident transition to big school. Our children enjoy regular visits twice a term to engage in story time and fun activities with the school librarian, helping to build early literacy skills in a familiar and welcoming environment. These visits also include time to explore and play in the school’s playground. Encouraging confidence and independence. We proudly participate in special events such as Book Week and the Easter Hat Parade, fostering a strong sense od community and belonging for our children and their families.

Embracing Inclusion Through Auslan

As part of our commitment to inclusive practices and meaningful community connections, our preschoolers participate in weekly Auslan ( Australian Sign Language) lessons. These sessions introduce children to basic signs in a fun and interactive way promoting communication, empathy, and respect for the Deaf community. By learning Auslan together, we help children build awareness of diverse ways of communicating while fostering a strong sense of belonging and inclusion from an early age.

It takes a Village – Connecting Generations

Our 'It takes a Village' program celebrates the power of community by welcoming elderly locals into our service to spend meaningful, supervised time in our babies’ room. Through gentle play, cuddles, and shared story time, this intergenerational initiative fosters connection, joy, and a sense of purpose for both our youngest children and our older community members.  These visits create heart warming moments of bonding and remind us all that learning, love, and care truly span all ages.
